About me.
I studied Humanities at the University of Puerto Rico and Fine Arts at Memphis College of Art, in Tennessee.
Straight out of grad school I had a couple of odd jobs before getting hired at The Children's Museum of Memphis. For three and a half years, I learned to play and played to learn as I studied human development, multiple intelligences, and informal learning.
I took a one-way trip back to my hometown, San Juan. The job awaiting me was as Museum Educator at the Museum of History, Anthropology and Art of the University of PR. Through my practice, I've integrated audio description, visual thinking strategies, emergent curriculum, scholarship of teaching and learning, dialectics, and humor.
For the past two decades, I've mediated between curious visitors and intriguing objects: paintings, graphic art, photographs, sculptures, Native Antillean artifacts of stone, clay, and shell, historic documents, video, and installation art. That is quite a favorite part of my job.
As of late, I make mail art collage, which goes hand-in-hand with my love of hand-written letters. And I'm writing short novels.
